Everyone wants to look stylish and trendy but fashion costs a lot of money. If you don’t have a significant disposable income you might end up finding yourself in the category of those who dream but never achieve because they can’t afford to. Oh stop there right now? Who said you can’t look stylish and chic on a budget? Who says you cannot find really trendy clothes that complement your personality on a budget.
Lets face the reality most of us cannot afford to buy clothes like Jennifer Lopez or Kylie Jenner but most of us wish to look as well put together as they are. So lets start.
First what fashion statement are you trying to make, casual, business casual or formal????
Lets start with formal; the easiest way to look formal is to wear a black dress. A black dress will do it doesn’t matter what formal occasion we are talking about, weddings, banquets, birthdays you name it a black dress will do. In fact a black dress and a pair of black shoes will do. All you need after that is a pair of gold or silver earrings and pair it with a purse and you are ready to go. I can bet my sweepstakes that most women own a black dress.
A simple but nice back dress will cost you about $100 and a pair of black shoes will cost you not much more. You can actually show up at a formal occasion and not spend more than $300. You can spend less if you already own your earrings, purse and shoes. People remember our dresses do not necessarily have to match our accessories but rather can complement them.
Tips to remember when creating that chic look we love
Reorganize your closet and remove worn pieces of clothing, throw out-dated style
Ask yourself what is your style and chose outfits that matches your style and taste.
I have always said that you cannot replace grooming; you need to fix your hair and have clean nails. Not necessarily long nails
Always color coordinate, your choice of colors can complement each other , they don’t necessarily have to match
Neutrals colors work best because they give you room to play around with a wider array of colors
Patterns should be used to a minimum. Mixing patterns should be avoided except you know how to pull it off.
Please forget the hooker heels. Mid heels are preferred because you can walk more comfortable in them. You can go for sky high heels but make sure you can walk in them if not, you might end looking like a peacock with a fracture.
Accessories should be used to a minimal. Less is more they say. Use your accessories to complete your look bearing in mind that they should not take away from the outfit but rather complete the outfit.
